I could tell from the minute I met this couple that their wedding was going to be a day of great fun and laughter and I am so pleased to be able to share it with you today. Their day was captured beautifully by Sarah and Richard at Jewell. and I caught up with beautiful Bride Micha to find out more about it…
Tell us a bit about your Love Story?
We met when I was 14 and Tom was 15. Our friends were going on a ‘date’ and were too scared to go on their own so we went along with them. We then kept meeting up on the weekends until eventually Tom was able to get my number and we were texting ever since.
We had bought our first house in September 2015 after a year of saving and after that, we decided to treat ourselves to a once in a lifetime holiday. We decided on Lapland and on our first night Tom wanted to go and explore and got a recommendation from one of the reps that there was a path behind the hotel that leads onto the frozen river with some amazing views. We attempted to go but got lost in waist deep snow! It was then that Tom turned around and proposed, but as soon as I had said ‘yes’ he put the ring back in his pocket so I didn’t actually get to see it until we were back at the hotel!
What was the inspiration for your day?
Just to have fun! The church was the serious and formal to us and our reception we wanted to have fun. We really wanted to enjoy our day and just be us.
Where did you find your dress and how did you know it was ‘The One’?
My dress was a Maggie Sottero design from Aurora Brides in Onchan. I added straps for the church and a detailed belt that really added to the dress.
I had originally picked a different dress and was paying small monthly payments as it was too early to order it, but whilst making these payments I saw so many other Brides wearing the same dress. I still think it’s beautiful but it became so popular and it was what people expected of me. When I went back to try it on I had fallen out of love with it, so we spent about an hour trying different dresses on until I found ‘The One’. I didn’t cry but once I tried it on I just knew!
What about your shoes & accessories?
My shoes were amazing, I actually had them before I chose my dress! They were a pair of Badgley Mishka which I had seen on ‘Say Yes to the Dress!’ and fell in love with them straight away.
My tiara was my ‘something borrowed’ – It was my Mum’s for her wedding and my sister also wore it when she got married. The only other bit of jewellery was a pair of diamond earrings that Tom gave me as part of my wedding present.
What did Tom and his Groomsmen wear?
We decided against hiring suits and ended up buying them from Marks & Spencer. We waited until there was a 20% discount which really helped with the cost of buying so many suits, but it meant we only bought them 6 weeks before the wedding!
Where did you buy the rings and how did you choose them?
We both bought our rings from H Samuel and there were only 3 rings to chose from that would fit with my engagement ring so that made picking mine a lot easier! Whereas Tom spent a lot more time picking his ring.
Tell us about your flowers…
We were really impressed with our flowers – Heidi at the Flower Studio did an amazing job! I had only said 3 different types of flower that I really wanted and chose the pastel colours, but I really didn’t know what would work or look good together so I was really relaxed with the rest of the design and just trusted Heidi.
When they were delivered I was over the moon to see such a beautiful bouquet! I even had Heidi put an Everton badge on my bouquet as my something blue.
How did you decorate the reception venue?
We had Matt Fletcher decorate the marquee for us, he did an amazing job and really made it look special.
We provided some small bits that we had made ourselves for the table numbers to give it a personal touch.
What was the cake like?
It was a 5 tier love heart shaped cake with 3 different flavours, lemon chocolate, and Victoria sponge.
How did you entertain your guests?
We had a photo-booth from Boxed Off for 3 hours that was a huge hit with everyone.
We also had a bouncy castle outside which was amazing – we both got on and all the children were egging us on!
We had a lot of fun playing the Mr & Mrs game before our first dance!
What was the most romantic part of the day?
I think it was when the two of us went to Ballanette Nature Reserve for our photos and we were able to enjoy a few minutes downtime together during the day.
What was the funniest part of the day?
We smiled and giggled all the way through the church. One of my flower girls was eating a biscuit during the service and as we looked over (expecting to see my maid of honour crying) my flower girl licked her biscuit and showed us all with a big cheesy grin! We have it recorded and our photographers managed to capture it as well!
What was your best idea?
We did our own candy cart and everyone loved it – so many people went home with bags full of sweets!
What piece of advice would you give others planning a wedding?
Enjoy it! So many people seem to be stressed out over planning a wedding, whereas all along we both just had fun and really enjoyed everything.
Such great advice from Micha and thanks to them both for sharing their wonderful wedding with us!
