I met this gorgeous couple at The Empress Wedding Fayre only 6 days after they got engaged and their excitement to plan their wedding for next Summer was more than evident! Andrew planned his proposal to perfection and I caught up with Sophie to find out all about it…
How and when did you meet?
We met in 2010 in Moby Dicks Chippy in Douglas after a night out. He bought my chips and we haven’t looked back since!
How did Andrew propose?
Andrew took me to Amsterdam for my Christmas present and on our first day, we went for lunch in Vondel Park. After lunch, we walked around the park and came to a bridge with lots of padlocks on it.
Andrew dropped to one knee and had the ring in his hand. He then pulled out a padlock and pen for us to attach to the bridge.
I had described my perfect ring to Andrew in the past and he got it exactly right! I am in love with it. It is a white gold halo cluster ring from Ernest Jones.
How did you celebrate?
We phoned our family, then went straight back to the restaurant where we had lunch, where they gave us champagne and apple cake (their speciality) with a big sparkler coming out of it.
Then we visited the Amsterdam Flower Market and Andrew bought me some tulips!
Andrew had also booked a couple’s massage and a gorgeous meal at a steak and lobster restaurant that evening.
When we arrived home a few days later, our families had organised an engagement celebration for us, where we asked all our bridesmaids, page boys and flower girls if they would be part of our special day.
Congratulations Sophie and Andrew and thank you so much for sharing your romantic proposal story with us!
