Flo The Coffee Van has been a pipe dream of husband & wife team Stuart & Annabel since enjoying the festival way of life in their twenties. This experience shows in their laid back, friendly approach to ensuring everything goes right for their clients, from the menu to the overall ambiance of the venue.
Flo is a 1968 Citroen HY horse-box which the couple restored and had fitted out to their designs to create the Flo we all love today. Annabel explains why it had to be a Citroen HY Van.
‘I was stood with my Dad only a few days after my mum’s funeral at an air show in N.Ireland a few years back. The queue we were stood in was for a coffee at a beautiful Citroen Van and I turned to Dad and said “I would love to own one of these one day as teaching is just far too stressful these days” Dad looked at me and said “ I can just see you behind a counter of one.” So bringing that dream to life felt like the fitting thing to do when my Dad passed away’
Annabel’s previous 20 year career as a Food Technology teacher means she is still doing what she loves best – baking, organising and having fun!
Annabel is passionate about local and seasonal produce and tries to use it as much as possible in all of their menus. From Fairy Bridge Tea and a special Flo Roast Freshly Ground Coffee Blend from Manx Roast for the drinks, to IOM Creamery Butter, Laxey Glen Mills Flour, Aalin Dairy Milk & Close Leece Farm free range eggs for her baking. Any jams or seasonal produce used are sourced locally from the IOM Farmers Market and the dry store ingredients used are ethically sourced from SUMA.
Anyone who has visited Flo at either a public or private event loves the fact they get a large slice of a home-baked old recipe cake like Sticky Ginger coupled with a real mug of hot filter coffee.
Annabel has noticed a trend for this homemade and local touch for weddings recently. “Many weddings I’ve been involved with over the last two summers have enjoyed having Flo as the afternoon tea course straight after their ceremony.
More and more people like to have cake & coffee at their weddings for their guests to enjoy while listening to the speeches, followed by a big sit down meal in the evening when all their guests arrive. We have also attended evening receptions, providing casual ‘street food’ filled baps followed by tea & coffee for their guests.”
Annabel and Stuart can offer to provide the perfect package for your wedding day. The full day ensemble can include catering, menu choices, use of their two Australian Stretch tents, festival flags, and PA system, to any location on the Island (access and landowner permitting of course!)
Or choose to have them on site with Flo for the evening street food package – great for a laid back party feel and providing fab photo opportunities!
“Nothing is too much trouble for us and we love to meet up and chat about plans and menus with engaged couples – we can suggest ideas that may be a bit different and are happy to help make it all less stressful and overwhelming. We both love the whole wedding vibe and being part of something special for the couple and their guests!”

Oh and if you’re not planning a wedding, you can buy tasty treats from them at the Isle of Man Food Assembly!
