With all eyes (and cameras) focused on her, every Bride wants to look their best on their wedding day don’t they? And what better way to ensure your confidence levels are sky high when you first walk out in front of your guests and groom than to let the professionals take care of your hair and makeup?
In today’s Supplier Spotlight, we meet the talented (and very beautiful) make up artist, Charlotte Easton, and she talks to us about her passions, inspiration and what it is like to be involved with the Bride’s preparations….
My name is Charlotte Easton and I’m a freelance makeup artist specialising in wedding makeup. Being freelance means I can travel to wherever your party is getting ready and that I have the freedom to use a range of different products.
Who or what are your influences?
What is the best thing about your job?
It is truly an honour to be a part of someone’s special day, helping them to feel confident in how they look. I really enjoy the atmosphere of anticipation on the morning of the wedding and seeing the Bridal party happy with how they look.
I love collaborating with the Bride in developing ideas and creating something special. I have always loved make up and always will, meaning I always have lots of creative ideas – and lots of new products to try!
Have any weddings stood out for you? If so, what made them special?
All the weddings I have done have been incredibly special and unique in their own right. Every Bride is different – that’s what makes my job not only challenging, but fun!
What is the best piece of advice you could give to a Bride when choosing her make up artist?
When choosing a makeup artist you should ask married friends or other suppliers such as photographers and hairdressers for someone who comes recommended.
A good makeup artist should also have a portfolio you can look at so check out their website/blog and/or Facebook page to get an idea of their experience.
Perhaps the most important thing is to work with someone who listens and understands exactly what you want to achieve. Therefore, you should expect your makeup artist to offer and arrange a trial with you.
The trial is important as it gives you the opportunity to get to know each other and to try out ideas. Don’t hold back from asking for adjustments and changes, it is really important to be happy with how you look and feel – after all this is the one day you really want to look and feel your best!
A good makeup artist will be professional, courteous and work hygenically. Ask your makeup artist for their background and experience and make sure they are keeping their kit sanitary as they work.
A good make up artist should also carry a range of premium products and brushes in order to achieve a professional finish. This is in order to save you time and money trying to get hold of everything yourself. Great product knowledge is incredibly important too. Your makeup artist should know their tools inside out and also be able to work quickly on large bridal parties if you would like your bridesmaids to have their make up done too.
I would recommend finding a makeup artist who can travel out to you. The morning of a wedding can be incredibly busy so you want to make sure as much of the stress as possible is taken away from you!
Finally, make sure you like your makeup artist! They will be with you right before your big day and a good one can do more than create fantastic makeup; they will help you with last minute adjustments, keep everyone calm and be someone you were pleased to have had beside you before your big day
